On my goodman ssz160481ab heat pump. When going into either heat or cool mode the contactor won't hold. its as if the coil voltage is going on and of very fast causing the contacts to burn out. I replaced the contactor beacause it was so badly burned and found that the thermostat was bad too and replaced it. However it is still doing the same thing. I am getting a full 28v from the transformer, but get a weird reading at the contactor coil, 18vac and 8 v dc. could it be a bad circuit board?

When the thermostat turns off, the condensing unit continues to run. The old contactor was sticking. I could go out and tap on the side of the electrical box beside the compressor, and the contactor would drop out, allowing the unit to shut down. I have replaced the run contactor, but the problem has not gone away. In fact tapping on the electrical box won't even make it shut down now.

You most likely have a short. Start by removing the wire on the terminal marked y in the t- stat then see if it shuts down. Look in the air handler for wires touching together. I have also eound wires touching in the wall from the t-stat. ... Carrier 38CKC042 Air Conditioner

This is a weatherking central air conditioner. Had been looked at by another person before me. Wasn't cooling right is all the information I had. When I walked past it one day (this is at a golf course), I noticed the suction line going into the condenser cabinet was iced up. First thing I thought about was maybe it had to much freon in it. After looking into it further I noticed it was iced up all the way to the compressor. When I had a person turn the t-stat down to turn down, the head pressur

I have a 2000 chevy blazer 4 wd. the ac does not work. We bought a recharge it from advanced auto and checked how much freon was in the truck. It was reading low, so we added some to the specifications given on the package. However, the air still blows out really hot. The thing under the hood that has a belt around it for the ac cuts on and off quite frequently. When we were measuring the freon, as it cut on and off the levels we were reading would go from 55 psi to 0 back up to 55. We live in F

My ac unit does not have power to the thermostat. There is 200 volts going into the transformer and 24 volts going out. There is 24 volts on the back side of a terminal with thermostat wire running to the thermostat and the outside AC unit. However, no power on the front side of this terminal and therefor no power to the thermostat.

Please exercise due caution in checking voltages in live circuits!24 volts sourced by the transformer, through the thermostat, then through the contactor (turns on power to compressor/fan) and returns to the transformer, If the thermostat ... Air Conditioners

1994 corolla-I charged the air cond., and it was cooling fine. After about a mo., it was not cooling very good. I assumed it had a small leak. I put my guages on it and the low pressure was running 15 to 20. The high side was reading about 150.I put a can of stopleak and detector in it. Then I put a can of freon in it. While I was putting the freon in it the pressure started to drop on both the low side and high side. Now the low side pressure is running about 15 and the high side is running 0.W
