We have a Goodman Furnace and Air Conditioner approx 7 years old. When I put the Cool on thermostat and lowered the temperature for the air conditioner to come on the furnace fan started but the outside air conditioner only made a humminging sound. How long does it take for the air conditioner to start? I thought in previous years it came on quickly. I changed batteries in thermostat and reset the brakers on the main electrical panel. Could you please give me some advice. Thank you.
Hi, You are right. The outside unit starts quickly. The humming will either be the evaporator fan or the AC compressor itself. If you can reach into the evaporater fan with something narrow and stiff you may be able to see if the fan turns. Sor ... Air Conditioners

I had power blink off for a couple of seconds and then came back on. The Amana air conditioner RCC30A2E seem to be On but no cool air was blowing. I check breaker it was ok. I preceeded to check thermostat, I notice 24v was not present and by bypassing the thermostat the air conditioner still was not blowing cool air. I went outside and notice the fan was not rotating.
Check for fuses in the 24v wiring. Was anything running outside? The 24V X-former is located in the air handling unit. check for voltage on the air handler. if present, check output voltage at X-former. You should have 24V ... Air Conditioners

Remote thermostate Is it OK to replace the batteries in the remote thermostat with rechargeable batteries? This has been the most troublesome air conditioner we have ever had, and I think it is because of the remote. It is hard to keep the signal going from the thermostat to the air conditioner. Installing an 24,000btu air conditioner. The original wiring at that outlet has an double pole 20amp circuit breaker. The old air conditioner that was their was plug into an outlet box that sat on the face of the wall that had 30 and 250 on it. I had purchased an outlet that had 20 and 250 on it. The instruction for the wiring of the new air conditioner said 208/230 volts; 0 to 12amps; 20amp time delay fuse or circuit breaker. So tell me if I am doing the right thing with that 20amp and 250 volt
Yes your ok if they say the unit doesn't need to be changed in the incomimg power from 208 up to 230 volts or vice-versa,normally they classify motors as120/208/ 230 /460 volts, instead of 120/240/480 volts, but all line voltage varies in this voltage ... I bought a haier electronic control air conditioner model HWR10XC6 on 6/30/08. I installed it. When I try to use the cool mode the air conditioner will only blow out cold air for about 5 - 10 minutes and then it just blows out regular air as if its on fan. I did what the manual said to do and it still continues to do this. I can't get it to blow out cold air for a longer period. Its getting really hot in here.

Borg warner Is the old round York Borg/Warner thermostat incompatable with a Honeywell? I just replaced my old round mercy switch thermostat with a Honeywell RTHL111 thermostat. The air conditioner service man says it is hooked up right, but the fan on the unit will not run on auto (it must be in the on position on the thermostat [thus the fan runs all the time]). He also replaced a relay switch inside the unit. We are using air conditioning only on this unit. Red to R (strapped to Rc), gree

Air Conditioner was working fine last summer but outside fna not working. Not hearing any sound at all. I can move the fan amanually and it seems fine. There is an electrical box next to the main electrical box on the back of the house with 2 fuses in it but I can't tell if they're bad. I thecked the thermostat and it apears to be fine. The air conditioner furnce kicks on and blows air out of the registers. It's just the main unit outside that's not working.

We installed a Honeywell RTH230B thermostat on a Trane XE60 Air Handeler this winter. When we put the system on heat it works fine. However, when we put the system on auto for cool the compressor fan comes on but not the air handeler fan. On the air handeler the terminal strip from left to right is R W Y G B/C. I have an Edgestar Portable Air Conditioner AP12000HS. The Air Conditioner works wonderful, however I can't get it to heat, I put the Mode Button on red which is supossed to put the heater on, it will run for a few minutes and then shut off and it does not take the chill out of the room I have the unit in, is there some kind if thermostat internally which can be set? The way it runs now does not do me any good as a heater.
