Unit filled with water -hard to drain

\015 I have the LG 12000 BTU Air conditioner, and its been working great. Recently, I noticed that when on, it would hum like the fan wanted to turn but couldnt. Being off a while fixed the problem, but it would sieze again. I live in a humid state, so when I read that you might need to drain the unit, I figured my problem is solved.\015\012\015\012However, I live on the second story of a building - and getting to that drainage pipe in the back is going to be a real pain. Is there any way I can do this without killing myself? Thanks for your help in advance.\015\012\015\012-Kaerbear\015

Answers :

Possibly its a capacitor thats faulty and not the drainage. still, the unit will have to be removed from its casset (case) to be repaired.

Hello, I have a Ruud 10 seer unit in the condo i rent...it frequently stops cooling. The fan inside never shuts off, but the unit outside won't come on often enough to cool to the temp on thermostat. When the A.C. guy comes all he does is drain some water from the inside unit and it works fine for awhile. Can you explain how I can do that myself...as it's very hard to get him here. Thank you.

It sounds like the air cond is freezing up, and as he melts the ice off he evaporator coil you will have air flow again. When the evaporator, (which is the coil that absorbs the heat from your condo) is frozen over, no air flow can pass through it. ... Ruud Matching Split Air Conditioner

My portable a/c continues to leak water from the bottom when in use. I have a hose attached to the spout in the back, but it still leaves a puddle and almost nothing drains out the back. It's a sunbeam sca102rpc1, 10,000 btu model. I have the unit level on a few 2x4's off the ground, so the drain off from the spout is all down hill. but yet the unit must be leaking because the water is in a puddle at the bottom under the unit, not the drain pan.

It sound like the coil inside could be dirty. I have had the same problem with air handlers, when the coil is dirty or the filter is dirty it creates a back pressure and causes the condensation to drip off away from the condensation pan. ... Sunbeam SCA102RPC1 Portable Air Conditioner
