Having problems with your Air Conditioners ?

RV Roof Airs, not so cool

\015 1989 Roof RV Air Conditioners...they are working OK, just not great.\015\012Not getting better or worse with use.\015\012What goes bad to make them not work as well as they should? If freon is leaking, should'nt it all leak out? Don't want to spend $200 just to be told time to replace. Going to check pressure tonight, as I found the attacment for gauges is allready in place. Only the low side has a tap, safer I guess. All grills are clean, as are the coils. What has the shortest life?\015

Answers :

Low side is 65 at high speed.\015\012Have not done the temp check.\015\012It does have a clamp on port only on the low side.\015\012I hear they are prone to leaking.
After you check the pressure, get back with me. Age is always a factor with proformance. But really, unless it is leaking freon or has a defective part, the unit should work fine. Measure the temp drop across the coil. Meaning from the intake to the output. Get back with me.

Just bought a used 1987 Real-Lite truck camper. The roof air unit is Dometic as well as the LP/AC refrigerator. When turned to "cool" the air conditioner really draws down, dims the lights, and eventually blows the home AC breakers. It works fine on blower fan only but as soon as I engage the "cool" settings, big brown out. The fridge doesn't work at all. I'm in the Nashville area. Suggestions

To start with, if it's plugged in to a 15 amp breaker, and extension cord, the compressor starting up may just be enough to trip the breaker. It will draw close to 15 amps on start-up of compressor, and if there is a light extension cord used to plug ... Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

I have a 1992 Class C Gulfstream Ultra motorhome with a Dometic, Duo-Therm roof top AC system (ducted) model # 58915 and the old analog thermostat on the wall. The unit comes on and the compressor seems to be kicking in a few seconds later (just from the sound of it) but it's just blowing cool air. Not hot but DEF not cold! I have a Coleman roof mounted AC unit on a travel trailer. The unit model is 83338715. The unit just blows cool air not cold air like it should. I was told to replace the "Hard Start Capacitor" and "PTCR Start Device" which I did. This did not remedy the problem. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Could the problem be the "Compressor Run Capacitor"? Reason being that I hear no change in the blower sound when the unit kicks on???

Blowing 'cool air' could mean - room temperature air or it could be 'cool' because the system is low on refrigerant, and just barely doing any 'cooling' at all.\012\012To determine which is which - you need to know "for sure" if the compressor ... Air Conditioners

Coleman RV Rooftop Air Conditioner - cage fan making a noise like it is hitting on something as it goes around. The motor works as it should, low and high fan and cool, the air is cold. The only thing that is a problem is the sound. We have already removed the top from the roof and the bottom cover from inside so we can see the cage fan, but cannot see what it could be hitting. Any ideas?

I have a Coleman 6770 A Series roof air on my trailer. It won't blow cool air. Is this a compressor problem? And if so, would it just be cheaper to replace the whole unit than to try and repair this one?
