Having problems with your Air Conditioners ?

I have a mobile home and the, unit in the house is freezing over , what could be the cause?

Answers :

Lack of airflow over the coils, dirty coils, and low refrigerant. Those are the only things that cause a unit to freeze up. So check your filter and replace it if you haven't already, make sure the coil is clean and have a professional come and check the charge. Don't forget that this is the time of year that the outside unit should be washed as well.

Model ck42-1a compressor won't come on. I replaced the intake filter about a month ago. It was a pleated filter and was real caked when I replaced this month. Can that cause the compressor to go out? I have two units and the pipe coming in to the house is cold on the good unit but not on the bad. Could that be anything but the compressor? Low freon or a-coil freezing in the house?

The fact the filter was very dirty and the door partly open allowing non filtered air to enter the system leads me to a possible dirty evaporative coil on the furnace. That can cause poor airflow and iced up coil reducing airflow even more. In the lo ... Goodman CKL42AR42 Air Conditioner

I have a Coleman Central Air Conditioner/Heat Pump. On the cooling mode the coils inside the unit in the basement continue to freeze up causing no air flow. I relpaced the filter thinking it might have been restricting the flow causing the freezeup but it still freezes up. What are the suggestions on what could be wrong with my unit

The most common reason for freezing up is 'air flow,' and since you've already changed your filter - have you checked out the coil (the one that cold air comes from) to see if it's clean? If the filter you changed was really 'bad dirty' then it's a ... Air Conditioners

My AC unit keeps freezing up on the copper lines going into the house from the outside unit. It also freezes up on the inside lines and the air is not cooling my home down.

Operate your air conditioner with the fan in the on position. But first turn the fan on, turn the temp up or shut the cooling off. Your coil is more than likely frozen over. At night when outside temperature drops the refrigerant pressure and temper ... Air Conditioners

We recently replaced an old window unit with a westpointe a/c mwk-08 unit. The old unit was dripping water in the house but the new unit doesn't seem to be dripping any water? Could this possible be a drip "less" unit or is it installed incorrectly? I've heard the horror stories about mold building up in window units & causing MAJOR health issues.

If the old unit was dripping condensate into the house, it was installed incorrectly. The replacement unit may have been installed correctly so the condensate drains outside. ... Air Conditioners

I've just moved into a home with an existing Armstrong Concept 10 A/C unit that's at least 15 years old. When I left for a 2-week vacation, the unit was working great. I set the thermostat to 77 to save energy. Upon returning, I lowered the thermostat to 70 and waited, and waited and waited several hours only to find the temp. in the house was not lowering, it was actually rising! I could see the unit's fan blade was not moving so I checked the circuit box in the basement, and the A/C breaker

Hi there, I have two Fujitsu DC Inverter split units to heat my flat (england). The temperatures have dropped significantly -2 and below. This causes the outlet pipes to freeze up and when the units are on defrost the excess water gushes out of all other joints in the units. This causes two problems - the units are wall mounted one on top of the other, so the top unit freezes the bottom unit. The second problem is the bottom unit 'dumps' in on the floor of the area which when defrosted s

I have a Hampton Bay window A/C model HBD160-E (Home Depot). It recently started tripping it's 15A circuit breaker. Has been plugged in to same outlet for going on 11 years. Other than this unit still works and cools fine. What could cause this?

Look at the serial tag. It should give you the amperage. If that is close to 15 Amp then the circuit breaker has obviously been running at an elevated temperature (due to its inherent resistance), and is now "worn out". You need a new breaker. If ... Air Conditioners

Our York P4HUB12N08001A furnace has an A/C unit installed and we are running it in cool mode for the summer. Yesterday, my wife noticed a repeated hum from the furnace, and the house was 4 degrees warmer than it should be. She said that it would hum a couple minutes, turn off, then repeat a little later. I told her to shut it off, and I'd look at it when I got home. With the two covers off the furnace, I returned power to it, then pressed the safety switch so I could see everything happening. Th

Where can I find a manual for my coleman cam II central air conditioner for a mobile home? I recently purchased the mobile home and would like to know what steps to ntake to make it work at its best. Also, I find it puzzling that the air filter is set on top of the unit inside the mobile home. It looks to my limited knowledge of central air, as if someone set the filter on top of the unit because they did'nt know the correct location placement. Can you provide any comments or advice? Thanks

Check the website for Coleman/Intertherm for a manual, you will need the model and serial numbers of the unit. The filters for these typically sit on top of the unit, some come with frames, some lay directly on the coil. If you can't find a manual on ... Coleman Air Conditioners

I've got an older Coleman Unit - Suncutter / Model #7442-815 that came with the mobile home when we bought it new. I've been told that it was just an A/C Unit, but the mobile home dealer added the Heat Package, (#7642-915). Last winter when we turned the heat on, it would blow for a short time and then trip the breaker in the unit. If you untripped(?) it, it would come back on. I'd LOVE to find the Owners/Users Manual for the unit. My husband is very capable, and can probably repair/replace

Earlier this week, I noticed that the house felt "stuffy" but the thermostat showed everything to be cooling as expected. Last night, the house was definitely warmer than expected when we got home. My husband did some checking and found that the outside unit was running as normal, but there was no cool air coming through the vents inside the house. turning the a/c unit off at the thermostat did NOT turn off the outside unit...was only able to do this at the circuit breaker.
