Having problems with your Air Conditioners ?

Pan missing when RUUD unit was installed causing problems with AC

\015 Need to know the part so that I may order and have installed not sure exactly what it may be called. It is causing condensation build up and the a/c does not work as well.\015

Answers :

I think your talking about an emergency drain pan. Is condensation building up on the outside of the unit? If it is, it means that the unit is not draining properly and the is too much water sitting in the main condensate pan. If you don't have the emergency pan, then the condensate drips from the unit onto the ceiling in your attic. I'm assuming a lot of things but this is what I think you are asking. You will have to find an ac supply company that will sell you an emergency pan and then it must be piped to the outside of the home or it can be plugged but with the use of a float switch. This switch will shut the unit off if the main condensate drain becomes clogged. You should have a professional come and wire a float switch unless you are knowledgeable about a/c equipment. I hope this answers your question.

I have a unit in the attic that is installed in the attic horizontally. The condensation leaks out the unit into the overflow pan. I have had the drip pan replaced as it was cracked, the overflow line adjusted to insure positive drainage and no sags and raised the unit so it maintained positive slope towards the drain pan. I also made sure the drain line is not plugged by pouring bleach water down it and after a period of time, blew compressed air through it. What else could be the problem.

It sounds like to me that the leak is coming from inside the unit(air handler) possibly your evaporator coil is icing up and causing a build up of water just below where the 3/4" P.V.C. drain line connects. Instead of draining out the line, it is fin ... Air Conditioners

This unit is always wet outside. The company that installed the unit, according to them they have move the bold inside of the unit, then they raised the pressures to 150[?], then they sealed the unit in the inside with some grey paint. Im still having the same problem with the unit sweeting alot. How can this problem be solve.

Is the unit outside the one sweating ? If it is that means it is working really well. Pressure should only be set by maximum efficiency and nit to change condensation. ... Rheem Air Conditioners

I did turn it down to 74.Can you help ? THANKS

The contactor engages from low voltage power from the thermostat as does the outside condensing unit. You may have blown the low voltage transformer or have a loose thermostat wire. Check line voltage(220 volts) to the transformer. Check load voltage ... Ruud Central System Air Conditioner

We've had problems with a Laars Neotherm NTH105 since it was installed. The flame sensor seems to be not sensitive enough and unit shuts down. When the sensor is cleaned it runs for a while, but the same problem comes back. I was told that there was a retrofit kit because they had this problem occasionally. Is this true and are there any other probable causes for shut down with the Neotherms?

Yes there is an upgrade kit for the NeoTherm which allows the control to read a lower flame threshold signal even if the flame rod becomes a little dirty. Please contact our technical support department at Laars Heating Systems 1-800-900-9276 ext 4 f ... Air Conditioners

Have two new 5 ton Infinity air conditioning units with gas furnace in residential installation. Repeatedly getting "change filter" warning. Indicated CFM is 1400 on high cool. This seems low to me. Shouldnt the CFM be closer to 400 to 450 CFM per ton? Could the problem be caused by undersizing the ducts? What CFM is recommended for the 5 ton unit on high? Hank Haeseker, PE

Hi,\015\012Yes, you are correct... the air flow should be at least 400 CFM/Ton for good efficiency. 350/ton if you have a dehumidification mode....\015\012But under 300 is totally unacceptable...\015\012The problem probably is the d ... Carrier Air Conditioners

Hi there, I have two Fujitsu DC Inverter split units to heat my flat (england). The temperatures have dropped significantly -2 and below. This causes the outlet pipes to freeze up and when the units are on defrost the excess water gushes out of all other joints in the units. This causes two problems - the units are wall mounted one on top of the other, so the top unit freezes the bottom unit. The second problem is the bottom unit 'dumps' in on the floor of the area which when defrosted s

Hi, Here is our problem:  We have this unit installed in our desert vacation home in the wine "cellar" room, at times when we are not here, the electricity has gone out (even just for a second) and this unit shuts down and doesn't come back on until we come here and physically turn it on again. We are looking to bypass this so we don't have wine ruined while we are away.  How can we get this unit to come back on by itself?   Another problem is: this unit is installed in su

I have a Bryant split unit. After incurring some water damage that I assumed was from the overflow pan (the damage came from a poorly insulated elbow in the duct that was sweating) I opened the unit and found the condesate pan dry but the interior was completly saturated. I watched as condesate dripped off the coil and the supply fan would pull the drop and miss the pan entirely. Now I have mold/mildew forming in the unit and the insullation inside the unit is wet. I turned off the ac and left t

My frigidaire air conditioners spit dirt all over the floor. My window unit and my through the wall unit in a sleeve both do the same thing. My parents had a frigidaire eletric heat pump installed 2 years ago. almost right away a soured water smell came out of the vents. service tech sprayed the coils and installed a black light. did not help. service tech said frigidaire did have this problem with some of its units. so the unit was replaced. new unit done fine for about 6 months. now the smell has came back mainly when the cooling is on. any suggestions. i dont believe it is the unit. they had a gas it pump before.

I feel that the gas lis leaking from a very minute hole which gets enlarged when the unit is cooling (it gets hot and enlarges). And it could be leaking from anywhere. A quick temporary remedy is to seal the possible leaking points with super glue or ... Frigidaire Air Conditioners

Hello all I am about at my wits end....We had a 2 ton 14 seer Ruud heat pump installed at the end of last year. The biggest problem I am having is in heat mode when it goes into defrost it makes a loud almost helicoper sound for about 20-60 seconds, wakes you up that's for sure. When I have had the company that installed it come out I can never get it to do it for them and I even tried recording it. We have had a multitude of problems I believe mostly stemming from the company that installed it.

It is most likely due to a scroll compressor. these are very noisy and hard to get used to. if it does not have a compressor jacket it would be worth installing. a hvac company would have to get it for you and it put it on. labor should be minimal si ... Air Conditioners

I recently had a new outdoor unit installed on my central heat and air conditioning sytem. I have had the installer out 3 times and the system still does not operate correctly. Sometimes when it cycles (every other time or every third time) the unit does not blow cold air. Sometimes the unit comes on not blowing cold air and the compressor fan is running but not the compressor. Sometimes after 15 minutes of this the compressor will come on. What is the problem.

It sounds like the compressor needs starting components installed on it. All a/c units have a run capacitor for the compressor and another one for the condenser fan motor. These motors use these capacitors all the time when the motor is running. H ... Air Conditioners

My air conditioner evaporator housing appears to be clogged. The normal drain line goes to the sewer. When it is not draining properly, a back-up drain line coming from the same evaporator housing, drains to the pan (below the unit). Then the pan drains to a visible outlet on the roof (which signals the home owner that there is a problem). We noticed the roof drain line was draining last weekend, so we checked the pan under the evaporator unit, and it had water in it (which is not normal

If you are sure that it's not the line, you are going to need to get to the drain pan to clean it. Take the cover off (with power off) to access it. It's not that muchto get to it. Use a drill and a socket. Once you get in there you will ... Air Conditioners
